Is digital marketing expensive?

It certainly doesn’t have to be. You can spend as little as $1 per day on digital advertising, and organic marketing effforts don’t have to cost you anything but your time. When you are ready to advertise your business, it’s good to keep in mind the more you can afford to spend, the more people who will see your ads. A $100 ad campaign will generally reach twice as many people as a $50 campaign.

I want to market my business online, but don’t have the time to do it myself. Can I hire someone?

Yes you can, but just be careful who you hire. There are sketchy people and companies out there that send spam emails offering to get you to the top of search engine rankings, or to give you dozens of hot leads every day. Do your own research to find the right marketing agency or consultant for you. Maybe ask fellow business owners if they would recommend someone. Or check with your local Chamber of Commerce. That way you can actually meet with the person right in your home town rather than take a chance with somone online who may not have your best interests in mind.

I have not done any digital marketing for my business. Where do I start?

You will want to ask yourself these questions before beginning any marketing strategy. Who do you want to reach? To answer that you’ll need to know where your potential customers live, how old they are, what interests they have and how it all relates to your business. Once you know exactly who you need to target, start browing the articles on this site to get started!

What if I am already spending money on offline advertising?

Digital marketing is one piece of the marketing puzzle. You may find you have great success marketing your business online. Or maybe your best results come from advertising on your local radio station. There is no one-size-fits-all approach so you just have to determine what form of marketing will bring the best return on your investment – whether that is a financial investment or an investment of your time.

If I only have time for ONE marketing method, what should it be?

his is a tricky one because it all depends on the business. Some business owners can get all the work or customers they need by networking in person at local events and they don’t need to use digital methods at all. Others may have an e-commerce business that requires them to aggressively market themselves online. This is something you need to determine for yourself. If you don’t even know where to start, getting an active social media presence should probably be your first step. That may help you determine what the next step will be.
